EvoCharge BASE is a Level 2 home EV charger from EvoCharge with up to 50 A (12 kW) output and a J1772 connector — 25 ft cable, non-networked operation.
Our take
The entry point of EvoCharge’s three-model 50 A line, and the numbers argue for it: 1.08 W at idle is the second-lowest in the 20-model class — about 9 kWh a year versus the 3.47 W median — with the full 25-foot cable and the same 12 kW output as its pricier siblings. The omission is connectivity, in a class where 85% of units are networked, so scheduling has to happen in the car rather than the charger. Most EVs handle that perfectly well.
- Best for: Drivers whose EV already schedules its own off-peak charging.
- Trade-off: No Wi-Fi, so no charger-side scheduling or energy reporting.
